The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) recorded the movement of 10,003,583 Lebaran returnees via public transport during the H-8 to H-1 period, or from 13 to 20 March 2026. This figure represents a 9.23% increase compared to the same period last year, which saw 9,158,315 passengers.

Head of the Bureau of Communication and Public Information at Kemenhub, Ernita Titis Dewi, stated that this increase reflects the high mobility of the public ahead of Idul Fitri, while also demonstrating public trust in the continuously improved public transportation services.

In detail, rail transport recorded the highest number of passengers at 2,981,945 people, up 13.22% from last year. Ferry transport followed with 2,482,303 passengers, or a 14.78% increase. Meanwhile, air transport served 2,190,282 passengers, growing 3.05%; land transport 1,587,060 passengers, up 9.18%; and sea transport 761,993 passengers.

In addition to passenger movements, vehicle traffic also showed significant dynamics. On H-1, the number of vehicles exiting Jakarta toll gates was recorded at 117,016 units, while those entering reached 66,210 units. Overall, vehicle traffic at Jabodetabek toll gates totalled 248,349 units, while in non-Jabodetabek areas it was 236,758 units.

Movements on arterial routes were also monitored as dense. Vehicles exiting the Jabodetabek area reached 474,454 units, while those entering numbered 360,479 units. Outside Jabodetabek, vehicle movements on arterial routes were recorded at 491,901 units.

On H-1 of Lebaran alone, the number of public transport passengers reached 915,635 people. Rail transport again dominated with 302,823 passengers, followed by air transport with 207,261 passengers, ferries with 189,804 passengers, land transport with 161,054 passengers, and sea transport with 54,693 passengers.

From the perspective of punctuality, the performance of public transport showed relatively good achievements. Intercity rail recorded an on-time rate of 98.20%, and regional rail 98.90%. Sea transport achieved 95.70%, while domestic air transport was 85.79% and international 70.24%. Land transport and ferries recorded 72.49% and 63.19%, respectively.

The implementation of Lebaran Transport 2026 itself refers to Ministry of Transportation Decree Number KM 59 of 2026, with integrated operational management through cross-sector coordination and intensive monitoring at various transportation hubs.
