South Lampung (ANTARA) — Migration activity for Lebaran 2026 at Bakauheni Port in South Lampung Regency, Lampung Province, has become visible with vehicles filling the port’s parking areas eight days before the Islamic celebration of Eid al-Fitr in 1447 Hijrah, on Friday (13 March).

Based on observations on site, four-wheeled vehicles, buses, and logistics trucks heading towards Merak Port in Banten moved steadily and smoothly on Friday.

Although four-wheeled vehicles created congestion in the executive and regular parking areas, no significant traffic jams developed and operations remained orderly.

Revan, a migrant from Lubuk Linggau in South Sumatra, explained during an interview at Bakauheni Port’s parking area that he had chosen to travel earlier to avoid congestion.

“We are heading to Pekalongan in Central Java. We are leaving early to avoid getting stuck in traffic, both at the port area and on our way home,” he said.

Meanwhile, General Manager of PT ASDP’s Bakauheni Branch, Partogi Tamba, stated that the company had prepared various supporting facilities to provide the best service to prospective migrants.

According to him, the crossing route connecting Sumatra and Java is a vital link supporting public mobility and national logistics distribution.

“We have also prepared various facilities, such as buffer zones, delaying systems, CCTV, 24-hour health services, and optimisation of vessel berth time to ensure smooth operations. We are also deploying shuttle buses to transport passengers from the regular terminal to piers 4, 5, and 6 in emergencies or when passenger congestion occurs in the port area,” he said.

He hoped that with the various preparations by ASDP, the public would plan their travel earlier and comply with applicable operational arrangements so that migration travel would be smooth, orderly, comfortable, and safe.

“The smooth operation of the crossing depends not only on the readiness of the operator, but also on strong synergy between regulators, operators, and all stakeholders at the port,” he added.
