Public interest in using trains during Lebaran continues to rise. Jakarta (ANTARA) – PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daerah Operasi 1 Jakarta said that the pre-Lebaran period 11-20 March 2026 was the time with the highest Lebaran travel ticket bookings, with 419,409 tickets sold. Franoto Wibowo, Public Relations Manager for Daop 1 Jakarta, said in Jakarta on Saturday that some dates were favourites among the public, including 18 March with 49,037 tickets sold, 19 March with 48,260, 17 March with 47,934, and 16 March with 47,152 tickets. On those dates, seat availability began to be limited. For example, on 18 March around 2,450 seats remained; on 20 March 2,843 seats remained; and on 19 March 3,002 seats remained, so several journeys were already approaching full capacity. To date, 617,752 tickets have been sold for departures from Gambir Station and Pasar Senen Station during the 11 March to 1 April 2026 period. The PSO economy class provides 118,704 seats with around 38,448 seats remaining. PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta provides 1,076,196 seats for long-distance train services during this Lebaran transportation period. Of this total, about 476,191 seats are still available with an occupancy rate of around 57 percent. “Public interest in using trains during the Lebaran period continues to rise,” he said. For those who have not secured tickets on the favourite dates, KAI suggests considering departures after 23 March 2026. In that period, ticket availability remains fairly high, around 368,249 seats. Additionally, there are 19 additional Lebaran trips comprising 12 additional trains from Gambir Station and 7 additional trains from Pasar Senen Station, and four free motis trips. KAI reminds prospective passengers to observe the permitted baggage allowances during travel. Each passenger is allowed to bring a maximum of 20 kilograms of baggage with dimensions not exceeding 70x48x30 centimetres. The public is also urged to arrive earlier at the station, reconfirm travel schedules, and purchase tickets through official channels to avoid fraud.
