Lebaran 2026 Exodus and Return Traffic Predicted to Be More Evenly Distributed
BEKASI – PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk predicts that the surge in travel during the 2026 Lebaran exodus will occur over a considerably lengthy time span.
Rivan A. Purwantono, Chief Executive Officer of PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk, stated that migrant worker movement is estimated to begin increasing from mid-March through to the end of the month.
“The prediction is essentially spread across 13-29 March. Why? Because the momentum over these two weeks is excellent. People can depart on Friday (13 March) and return during March as well,” said Rivan at the JMTC Office, Jatiasih, Bekasi (9 March 2026).
This situation is expected to help distribute vehicle flow so that it is not concentrated on one or two specific days.
Nevertheless, Jasa Marga still predicts several dates that could potentially become peak periods of vehicle movement. One of these is three days before Eid.
With a relatively lengthy holiday period, Rivan believes the distribution of migrant journeys can be more even. The public also has sufficient time to plan their travel for greater comfort.
“People can choose when to depart and enjoy their time. So the preparation period is also lengthy, because people can already begin departing from 13 March and the distribution of time is quite good,” he said.
“Actually, it cannot be defined as two waves. Because essentially everything is the same. It is just that some people want a longer exodus or a shorter one,” said Rivan.
He added that residents on Java Island generally choose longer exodus periods because they wish to spend more time with their families in their home villages.
“So essentially it is to ensure good distribution and greater comfort for the public,” said Rivan.
