Tens of thousands of vehicles departed Bekasi Regency, West Java, via the Pantura (northern coast of Java) route during the sixth day before Eid al-Fitr 1447 AH on Sunday, 15 March. According to police monitoring at security posts at the border with Karawang Regency, a total of 72,101 vehicles left Bekasi via the Pantura route.

Kompol Sugihartono, head of traffic police at Metro Bekasi Police, stated that the total volume of vehicles using the Pantura route towards Cikampek experienced an increase of 112 per cent compared to the previous day.

“Vehicle numbers surged 112 per cent from the previous day. This was the final day of the peak first-wave homecoming traffic,” said Sugihartono, as reported by Antara news agency on Monday, 16 March 2026.

Sugihartono noted that motorcyclists dominated the flow on the Pantura route, with travellers heading to various cities across West Java, Central Java and East Java. Of the total 72,101 vehicles that passed during the period, 55,494 were motorcycles, 14,285 were private cars, 211 were buses, and 2,111 were trucks.

Sugihartono explained that the surge in vehicles began to emerge from last weekend, but the peak of the first-wave homecoming traffic occurred on Saturday and Sunday. For comparison, on the seventh day before Lebaran, vehicle numbers passing towards Cikampek via the Kedungwaringin checkpoint increased by 31 per cent during the period from 00:00 to 12:00 WIB.

“Compared to the seventh day, the sixth day yesterday saw a significant increase of 112 per cent,” he said.

To manage the surge in vehicles during the Lebaran holiday period, Bekasi Regency Government and Metro Bekasi Police prepared at least 18 security and service posts for travellers. The posts are distributed across key routes used by holiday travellers in Bekasi Regency, ranging from the Pantura route, Kalimalang Inspection Road to the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road.

An integrated post was established in the Museum Gedung Juang 45 Tambun Selatan area. This post serves as a coordination centre for various agencies, including the National Police, the Armed Forces, the Transportation Department and other service agencies.

Additionally, four security posts were placed at congestion-prone traffic points, namely at Legenda Tambun Toll Gate, Cibitung Central Market, the SGC Cikarang Utara area and the Kedungwaringin border crossing.

Officers prepared five service posts for travellers needing travel information, health services and rest areas. These posts were located at Kalijaya Terminal in Cikarang Barat, Cikarang Station, as well as rest areas at Km 19A, Km 19B and Km 39A on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road.

Additionally, eight monitoring posts were established at strategic toll gates to monitor vehicle flow and conduct traffic surveillance during the 2026 Lebaran holiday period.
