Lebak Ulama Calls for Permanent Peace in the Middle East
Lebak (ANTARA) - Charismatic ulama from Lebak Regency, Banten, KH Hasan Basri, hopes that the war occurring in the Middle East will end permanently for the welfare of all nations in the world, while urging Indonesia to remain committed to its non-aligned policy amid the geopolitical dynamics of the region.
“We hope that the war in the Middle East ends because Allah SWT created humans with diverse tribes, nations, and languages, but they must unite and avoid conflicts,” he said.
The leader of the Nurul Hasanah Pesantren in Ciheulang, Rangkasbitung, in a press statement in Lebak on Sunday, strongly condemned Israel and US President Donald Trump for carrying out murders against Iranian and Palestinian civilians.
Among the victims of the humanitarian crimes by Israel and the US in their military aggression against Iran from 28 February until the current fragile ceasefire are children and women, he said.
“We see that murder as extremely cruel, attacking schools, residential areas, including homes, hospitals, and other places, resulting in thousands of children and women dying from being bombarded with bombs,” said KH Hasan Basri.
Furthermore, in the case of Gaza, Israel has committed genocide by killing tens of thousands of Palestinian civilians, including women, the elderly, and children, so the Zionist regime’s actions deserve to be called war crimes, he added.
Therefore, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu deserves to be tried as a war criminal. In addition, US President Donald Trump, who is allied with Israel, also carried out murders against Iranian civilians by dropping bombs in several areas of that country.
“We condemn Israel and US President Donald Trump, and hope that the war is ended and stopped as soon as possible,” he explained.
Regarding Indonesia’s involvement in the Board of Peace (BoP), he hopes that Indonesia does not join the council formed by President Donald Trump.
That demand has already been conveyed by the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) because the US and Israel in the BoP have committed serious violations, he said, while hoping that the Indonesian Government continues to play a non-aligned role, for example, in responding to the geopolitical situation in the Middle East.
