Lebak Regency Dispels Anti-Criticism Rumours by Highlighting Regent Hasbi's Track Record and Performance
Lebak Regency is currently under public scrutiny following an incident where Vice Regent Amir Hamzah walked out during a halalbihalal event some time ago. Related to this, various issues such as the regent’s physical presence and leadership style of Lebak Regent Hasbi Jayabaya in responding to public criticism have attracted attention. In response, the Lebak Regency Government’s Communication and Informatics Office (Diskominfo Pemkab) has revealed several data points and facts on the ground that instead demonstrate a leadership pattern prioritising work effectiveness and transparency. “The issue regarding the intensity of the Regent’s presence in Jakarta is often misunderstood by some parties. The Regent’s agenda in Jakarta is part of proactive efforts to secure budgets and strategic coordination with the central government,” stated the Lebak Regency Government’s Communication and Informatics Office (Diskominfo Pemkab) in a written statement on Wednesday (1/4/2026). As a result, there has been acceleration in several programmes, such as the Local Service Delivery Improvement Project (LSDP), a strategic programme resulting from collaboration between the Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) with grant support from the World Bank. Lebak Regency was selected as one of 30 national pilot areas to implement this project, focusing on Modern Waste Management (Solid Waste Management). “On the other hand, allegations that the current leadership is closed to criticism are refuted by a series of facts on the ground,” added Diskominfo Lebak. For example, when Lebak Regent Hasbi Jayabaya received an audience from representatives of Lebak students united in the Forum Cipayung Plus at the Lebak Regency State Building on Monday (2/3). On this occasion, Hasbi sought to follow up on the aspirations and constructive suggestions from the students for sustainable development in Lebak Regency. “The step of meeting the students is a signal that the government is not allergic to social control. On the contrary, aspirations serve as material for policy evaluation,” it stated. One year into the Hasbi-Amir leadership has recorded several positive indicators, particularly in health coverage and rural infrastructure improvements. In the current digital era, the effectiveness of a regional head is no longer measured solely by physical presence behind an office desk, but by how far the policies produced can address the fundamental problems of the people. Lebak Regency is said to be striving to shift the old bureaucratic paradigm towards a more dynamic and responsive government in response to changing times.
