Lebak Hajj Pilgrim Passes Away in Makkah After Fall

A Hajj pilgrim from Lebak Regency, Banten Province, has passed away in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, after falling in a bathroom while preparing for ablution (wudhu) for the Asr prayer on Monday (1/6).

“The victim has been identified as Adsuki (66), a resident of Cibeber, Lebak, and was briefly referred to An Nur Hospital in Saudi Arabia,” stated Halimatussa’diah, Head of the Lebak Regency Office of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, in Lebak on Wednesday.

The pilgrim, part of Flight Group (Kloter) 18, was suspected to be suffering from gastric ailments, according to information provided by family members who were travelling in the same group.

“The deceased has been buried in Makkah, Saudi Arabia,” Halimatussa’diah added.

She noted that the 391 pilgrims in Flight Group 18 are predominantly elderly. The group was officially sent off for the Holy Land by the Regent of Lebak, Mochamad Hasbi Asyidiki, on 15 May 2026. To date, this is the only report received regarding the death of a Lebak pilgrim.

Furthermore, she advised pilgrims with pre-existing medical conditions to strictly adhere to their medication schedules and to maintain constant coordination with medical officers if they feel unwell. “We hope that the Hajj pilgrims from Lebak are granted good health and can return safely to the Homeland, achieving the status of a Mabrur Hajj,” concluded Halimatussa’diah.
