The South Jakarta Administration aims to make Jalan Kembang Lestari in Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta, free of illegal parking following relocation to land owned by Perumda Sarana Jaya. “This land belongs to Sarana Jaya. The plan is to move all roadside parking here so the road can be sterilised,” said the Head of the South Jakarta Transportation Sub-District Office, Bernad Pasaribu, to reporters in Jakarta on Friday. Bernad stated that the approximately 1.8-hectare plot is being prepared as a solution to accommodate vehicles previously parked on the roadway. He added that parking relocation will take effect today, with enforcement against vehicles still parked on the road starting tomorrow. “Tomorrow, there will be no more parking on the road. If there is, we will take action,” he said. The DKI Provincial Government will also station officers at the location to ensure the policy runs effectively while waiting for the public to get used to the new parking site. The land, previously planned for apartment development, is now being used temporarily as a parking area. Parking management will later be coordinated by the Parking Management Unit (UP Perparkiran). Although the land’s condition is still limited, the government assesses that the area is sufficient to meet current parking needs. Further development awaits budget availability. The DKI Provincial Government urges the public not to return to illegal parking after the new Sarana Jaya-owned parking land is provided in the Lebak Bulus area, South Jakarta. That Sarana Jaya land can now be used as a parking area and will gradually be arranged by the government. In the future, the DKI Provincial Government is also considering appropriate parking solutions for employees working in several malls in the area to keep access easy. Previously, residents complained about parking in the MRT Lebak Bulus depot area, South Jakarta, which was suspected of encroaching on the roadway and disturbing passing motorists.
