Lebak BPBD Evacuates Saltwater Crocodile from Pasir Putih Beach Area

A saltwater crocodile was reported to have entered the Pasir Putih Beach area in Cihara District, Lebak Regency, Banten. The Lebak BPBD team immediately moved in and carried out an evacuation.

“Officers together with the BPBD, police and residents then carried out the evacuation process manually using ropes,” said Lebak firefighter Ade Apriyadi on Thursday (20/8/2026).

Ade said the crocodile, weighing 150 kilograms and measuring three metres in length, was considered a danger to tourists visiting the beach area. Tourists and beach officers who witnessed the incident immediately reported it to the BPBD.

Although officers experienced some difficulty in evacuating the crocodile, it was eventually removed.

“Alhamdulillah, we succeeded in securing or capturing the crocodile without any casualties,” said Ade.

After the evacuation, the crocodile is being temporarily held at the Bayah Sector 5 Fire Station headquarters. Officers will next coordinate with relevant agencies, including the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) and the Banten Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA).
