VIVA – Finance Minister (Menkeu), Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, will depart to perform the Hajj on Thursday, 21 May 2026. This was conveyed by Purbaya when he was met by reporters at the Presidential Palace Complex, in Jakarta, on Monday.

Purbaya said he had prepared to perform the Hajj for the past two weeks, including studying the prayers and acts during the pilgrimage. “The preparations for Hajj have been ongoing for two weeks; I have studied the prayers, but I still forget them,” he said.

The former head of the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) said he plans to perform Hajj for 10 days and then return to the country immediately.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah reported that 464 batches with 179,463 pilgrims and 1,851 officials have departed to Saudi Arabia, based on the latest data up to day-28 of the Hajj operation in 2026. Meanwhile, 455 batches with 175,682 pilgrims and 1,820 officials have arrived in Mecca.

For the arrival of second-wave pilgrims through King Abdul Aziz International Airport, Jeddah, 190 batches with 72,904 pilgrims and 759 officials have arrived. In addition, 12,180 special Hajj pilgrims have also arrived in Saudi Arabia and begun their sequence of rites according to schedule.

“Alhamdulillah, up to day-28 of the Hajj operation, services for pilgrims continue to run well. Our focus now is to strengthen readiness ahead of Armuzna, including catering services which are an important part of maintaining pilgrims’ stamina and health,” said the spokesperson of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, Maria Asseagaf in Jakarta, on Monday.
