JAKARTA — As the Eid holiday travel season approaches, PT PLN (Persero) is urging customers to ensure their home electrical systems are in safe condition before departing for their hometowns.

Gregorius Adi Trianto, Executive Vice President of Corporate Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility at PLN, advised customers to inspect their electrical installations and electronic equipment at home before leaving for an extended period during the Eid travel season.

“Eid travel is an eagerly anticipated moment for many families. Before departing, ensure that the home you are leaving behind is in a safe condition, including electrical installations and electronic equipment. This way, customers can visit their hometowns with greater peace of mind without concerns,” said Gregorius.

He added that this precautionary measure is essential to prevent electrical short circuits and other potential hazards caused by faulty home electrical installations when properties are left unoccupied for prolonged periods.

PLN has provided several recommendations to keep home electricity safe during the Eid travel period:

  1. Customers should ensure electrical installations in their homes are in good and safe condition before leaving.

  2. Unplug electronic equipment from power outlets to prevent unnecessary power consumption and avoid potential electrical hazards.

  3. Keep lighting on as needed, such as porch or yard lights, to help secure the vacant home. If possible, use motion-sensor lights to reduce electricity consumption.

  4. For postpaid electricity customers, ensure all bills are paid before the due date to avoid penalties or disconnection of service.

  5. For prepaid electricity customers, ensure sufficient tokens are loaded to keep home lighting on during the travel period and prevent the kWh meter alarm from sounding.

  6. If electricity needs at the hometown increase, customers can request an increase in their power allocation according to their requirements.

Additionally, PLN encouraged customers to utilise the PLN Mobile application to facilitate various electricity service needs before and during the Eid travel period.

Through the PLN Mobile app, customers can purchase electricity tokens, pay bills, request new connections, request power increases, and report electrical faults more easily.

“PLN continuously provides convenience to its loyal customers. Through the PLN Mobile application, all electricity services can be accessed in one place, anytime and anywhere. If there are any electrical issues or complaints, simply report them through the app, and PLN staff will immediately take action,” Gregorius said.
