Leather puppet show put on at mall

SEMARANG: To make the traditional leather puppet show
performance, or wayang kulit, more popular among the young
generation, the Indonesian Puppeteers Association of Central Java
held a wayang kulit performance at a mall.

Held on the ground floor of Matahari Plasa in Simpang Lima,
Semarang on Monday, the performance started at 10 a.m. and
finished at 4 p.m., featuring noted puppeteer Ki Enthus Susmono
of Tegal, Central Java.

Four other puppeteers presented condensed versions of a wayang
performance that day.

They were Ki Sri Joko Raharjo presenting the Pandhawa Dhadhu
(Pandhawa playing dice) story, Ni Sri Harti with Basudewa Grogol
story, Ki Tri Luwih Winarto with cerita Laire Tetuka (The birth
of Tetuko) story, and Ki Bremana Sekar Wangsa with Dewa Ruci
story.

A modern, innovative puppet performance wayang golek semi was
performed by puppeteer Ki Firman Haryo Susilo who presented a
story entitled Badri Tidak Naik Kelas (Badri fails the class),
which ended the performance on Monday. -- JP
