Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — Multifinance companies recorded 37.84% year-on-year growth in electric-vehicle financing, reaching Rp25.49 trillion as of July 2026, in line with rising public interest in electric vehicles (EVs).

Ristiawan Suherman, Chairman of Government Relations II at the Association of Financing Companies (APPI), said financing for electric and hybrid vehicles remained a key driver of multifinance lending, recording growth of 168%.

This trend has continued for several years and has been led by Chinese-made electric vehicles, which offer new innovations at competitive prices, giving the market potential to keep growing in the coming years. The ecosystem is also strengthening, supported by the expansion of charging-station services, the emergence of a second-hand car market and the development of auction houses.

Financing for used electric vehicles has also increased as sales of new electric cars continue to rise. CIMB Niaga Auto Finance has recorded almost twice the annual growth in this segment compared with conventional vehicles.

APPI also sees prospects for growth in productive financing for working capital and investment. This segment is still dominated by medium-sized MSMEs and is linked to government priority projects such as the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme.

How are financing companies responding to the surge in demand for electric vehicles? Andi Shalini discusses the issue with Ristiawan Suherman, President Director of PT CIMB Niaga Auto Finance and Chairman of Government Relations II at APPI, on Power Lunch, CNBC (Tuesday, 6 October 2026).
