There is a growing perception that security and intelligence studies are entirely secret, unpublished, undiscussed, and inaccessible to the public.

In reality, many intelligence agencies in various countries maintain official websites containing declassified documents, books, and specialised research. Some even publish periodic journals, such as the quarterly ‘Studies in Intelligence’ published by the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

At the same time, security and intelligence study programmes continue to expand across various Western universities, particularly in the United States and the United Kingdom. This field emerged as a discipline within the Anglo-Saxon environment before spreading to France, Italy, and several other European nations.

In 2023, Turkey officially established the National Intelligence Academy, an institution tasked with formulating Turkey’s strategic understanding of regional and international dynamics. The academy focuses its research on the relationship between intelligence studies, security, geopolitical shifts, and the military developments surrounding Turkey.

Since its inception, the academy has begun publishing various studies regarding security and defence issues deemed national priorities. Within this framework, in May 2026, the academy published a comprehensive study in Turkish titled ‘The US–Israel–Iran War: Military and Geopolitical Perspectives’.

The study is divided into three main sections. The first section discusses the challenges that war poses to the development of military technology and warfare doctrines.
