BANDUNG — West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has praised Iran’s government’s ability to manage its state budget to achieve public welfare whilst strengthening national sovereignty. The official, commonly known as KDM, stated that amid strict fiscal policies from the central government to the regions, including delays in Revenue Sharing Funds (Dana Bagi Hasil/DBH), he remains committed to prioritising budgetary allocation for residents’ interests. This spans road construction, social security, and education expenses.

“Perhaps the regents and governors will find this puzzling. I do not,” he said in an official statement on Monday, 9 March 2026.

KDM acknowledged that he already understands how to manage finances through efficiency measures and regulate staff working patterns via work-from-home (WFH) policies. He has also orchestrated efficiency through reduction of general expenditure budgets across various departments whilst still delivering high productivity.

“Thus, the WFH policy in West Java today actually produces high productivity and efficient routine government spending,” he said.

According to him, in the current financial situation, leaders are compelled to find solutions so that public services and development continue to benefit residents. In accordance with Islamic teachings, leaders are obligated to prioritise the interests of their people above all else.

“Because the financial situation is difficult, we must make every effort. What matters is that those who serve are guided by Islamic principles. Being guided by Islamic principles means the government prioritises the safety of its residents above any other interest,” he stated.
