Learning activities at SDN Srengseng Sawah return to normal after fire
Jakarta (ANTARA) - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has stated that teaching and learning activities at SDN 04 Srengseng Sawah will return to normal tomorrow following a fire in the school’s book storage warehouse.
“I asked the Head of the Education Agency to check. After checking, there was nothing serious, so the teaching and learning process will proceed as normal tomorrow,” he said at Jakarta City Hall on Thursday.
Pramono said the fire, which broke out in the book storage warehouse at around 11:36 a.m. local time, was quickly extinguished and there were no casualties in the incident.
“Alhamdulillah, it was quickly extinguished and there were no casualties at all, and tomorrow the teaching and learning process will be normal,” he said.
A total of 60 personnel from the South Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-agency (Gulkarmat Jaksel) were deployed to extinguish the fire at the book storage warehouse of SDN 04 Srengseng Sawah, Jagakarsa. The officers were equipped with 15 units, consisting of eight pumps and seven support units. Personnel departed for the location at 11:38 a.m. local time and began extinguishing the fire at 11:44 a.m. The operation was completed at 12:34 p.m.
Previously, Pramono stated that fires are one of the focuses of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government in facing the El Niño phenomenon. Therefore, he has asked every community unit (RW) to prepare light fire extinguishers (APAR). Meanwhile, the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has stated that El Niño has reached a strong category and still has the potential to increase to a very strong level, triggering a drier and longer dry season in several regions of Indonesia.
