Teaching and learning activities at SDN Srengseng Sawah 15 Pagi, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, are confirmed to resume as normal on Tuesday (14/7) after a police sweep declared the school safe following a suspected bomb threat.

Head of the South Jakarta Education Sub-department Region I, Santoso, stated that with the school’s condition confirmed secure, school activities, including the School Environment Introduction Period (MPLS), will continue as usual.

“The difference for tomorrow’s activities is that we have synergised with the police. We will also involve the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government’s Empowerment, Child Protection, and Population Control Agency (PPAPP),” he said at SDN Srengseng Sawah 15 Pagi, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, on Monday.

Santoso explained that there will be no special events during the teaching and learning process tomorrow, and all elements will integrate with the existing school agenda. He also confirmed there are no indications of trauma, based on communication with both students and teachers, who were still able to communicate well and carry out other activities.

“Of course, this will be a subject for joint evaluation. Hopefully, this will not happen again in DKI Jakarta, especially in South Jakarta,” he said.

Police are investigating the suspected bomb threat at SDN Srengseng Sawah 15 Pagi, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, which occurred on the first day of MPLS on Monday. Police received the bomb threat report at 7:30 a.m. WIB, while students and teachers were holding a ceremony on the first day of MPLS.

The threat originated from a private message via the WhatsApp application received by a first-grade teacher and administrative staff. The message contained a threat to detonate bombs at 11 points within the school and demanded that the school not report the matter to the police. The school subsequently reported the threat to the authorities, who immediately conducted a sweep.
