REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TANGERANG – Competition in Indonesia’s electric vehicle market is heating up. After an influx of Chinese brands over the past two years, PT Indomobil National Distributor is now bringing in Leapmotor to strengthen its portfolio in the premium electric car segment. The move also forms part of a long-term investment strategy through collaboration with the global automotive group Stellantis N.V., amid a steadily growing national electric vehicle market.

That momentum was marked by the launch of the Leapmotor C10 at the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026 last weekend. This global electric SUV is the second Leapmotor model to be officially marketed in Indonesia, alongside the B10. Although both seat five passengers, the C10’s cabin is more spacious while the B10 is more compact. The C10 targets family consumers who want a high-tech vehicle without compromising on safety and comfort.

Samuel Christian Wowor, Brand Head of Leapmotor Indonesia, said the C10 was developed with a Human-Centric Tech philosophy that places user experience as the priority. According to him, Leapmotor’s collaboration with Stellantis brings not only electric vehicle technology but also distinctive European engineering standards.

“Through the Human-Centric Tech philosophy, the Leapmotor C10 combines European chassis engineering from Stellantis, a quiet cabin, and a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating to deliver a comfortable driving experience and peace of mind on every journey,” said Samuel.

In terms of the product itself, the C10 arrives as a mid-size electric SUV with a modern design, an illuminating LED light bar, hidden door handles, and 20-inch alloy wheels. The vehicle uses a Cell-to-Chassis (CTC 2.0) architecture that integrates the battery into the chassis structure, resulting in a body stiffness level of 42,500 Nm/degree.

The car is equipped with a 69.9 kWh LFP battery powering a rear-wheel-drive electric motor producing 165 kW and 360 Nm of torque, claimed to be capable of covering up to 478 kilometres based on the NEDC standard.

Leapmotor also developed the C10’s handling characteristics together with the Stellantis engineering team at the Balocco Proving Ground in Italy. Inside the cabin, the SUV features OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified silicone leather materials, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 processor, dual 14.6-inch and 10.25-inch displays, the Leap OS 4.0 operating system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, over-the-air software updates, a 12-speaker audio system, and Level 2 ADAS technology with 16 driver assistance features. In terms of safety, the C10 has earned a five-star European NCAP rating and is equipped with seven airbags.

For the Indonesian market, the Leapmotor C10 is locally assembled (CKD) at the PT National Assemblers facility in Purwakarta, West Java. The car is marketed in a Flagship RWD variant priced at Rp 618 million on the road in Jakarta.

During GIIAS 2026, Leapmotor is offering an introductory price of Rp 598 million for the first 500 consumers. The local production signals that competition in Indonesia’s electric vehicle sector is no longer focused solely on new product launches, but also on manufacturing investment, strengthening distribution networks, and efforts to boost competitiveness in the national automotive market.
