Leaks Reveal Apple Preparing iPad Mini 8 with Major Upgrades

Apple is reportedly preparing a major update for the iPad mini 8 as the successor to the iPad mini 7.

According to a report from Gizmochina, the iPad Mini 8 could be launched as early as October, featuring an OLED screen. The transition from LCD will provide deeper blacks, richer colours, and better contrast.

However, it remains unclear whether Apple will introduce ProMotion with refresh rates up to 120Hz, as other recent reports claim the tablet’s refresh rate may remain limited to 60Hz.

The screen size is believed to be slightly larger, although the exact dimensions have not yet been disclosed.

The front camera is also expected to be moved to a landscape orientation, aligning the iPad Mini’s camera position with Apple’s other new iPad models.

The tablet is also reported to feature a small notch at the top of the glass screen for speakers, while the volume and power buttons will remain on the top edge.

Apple is also reportedly working on a new vibration-based speaker system that could eliminate traditional speaker holes.

With such significant changes, Apple appears likely to implement a price increase that could also be substantial. The price of the iPad Mini recently rose in the market from its previous $499 (approximately Rp8.9 million) to $599 (approximately Rp10.7 million) in July 2026.
