Leaking Official Residence: Klungkung Prosecutor's Office Requests Renovation Grant from Regency
The Klungkung District Prosecutor’s Office has submitted a request for a grant to renovate the official residence of its head prosecutor, citing the building’s deteriorating condition and leaking roof. Pelaksana Harian (Plh) Head of Intelligence at the Klungkung Prosecutor’s Office, Mustabihul Amri, stated that the proposal was submitted to the Klungkung National Unity and Politics Agency (Kesbangpoldagri) in May, with the aim of having it included in the 2027 regional budget. He claimed the request follows standard procedures. “We proposed this renovation through the usual mechanism in accordance with regulations. The official residence has been in use for a long time, since around 1980. Currently, parts of the roof are leaking,” Amri said on Tuesday (30/6/2026). Amri acknowledged that the region’s fiscal condition is affected by budget efficiency measures. He argued that the grant request is reasonable as the official residence is a supporting facility for public service. The prosecutor’s office is leaving the decision entirely to the Klungkung Regency Government. “We reiterate that this renovation is proposed based on actual needs and through the standard submission mechanism. If it is granted, we are grateful; if not, we accept it,” Amri explained. When asked about the Corruption Eradication Commission’s (KPK) appeal for local governments not to provide grants to vertical institutions, Amri said the matter is up to the regency government. He noted that the KPK’s appeal aims to maintain institutional independence. “It depends on the regional government. Whether they want to give or not. And it does not affect anything. If there is a problem, we will still take action,” Amri clarified. The amount of the grant requested for repairing the official residence will be adjusted based on the renovation needs. Amri said the budget is left to the Klungkung Regency Government according to their cost calculations. “We only proposed the renovation. We do not know the amount of the budget. It will be adjusted later based on their calculations when they conduct an inspection,” he concluded. Head of Klungkung Kesbangpoldagri, I Dewa Ketut Sueta Negara, confirmed receiving the grant proposal from the prosecutor’s office. Sueta said the proposal has been forwarded to the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) Klungkung. According to Sueta, the proposal was deemed feasible and was therefore passed on to Bappeda for processing. Regarding the policy of providing grants amidst regional budget constraints due to efficiency measures, he deferred the decision to the regent. “For more details, please ask Bappeda. We have handed it over there. I leave it to the leadership according to the financial condition,” Sueta explained. Head of Planning, Control, and Evaluation at Bappeda Klungkung, I Kadek Yoga Siana, also confirmed receipt of the grant proposal from the prosecutor’s office. He said the proposal, which had been deemed feasible by Kesbangpoldagri, has been forwarded to the Regent of Klungkung. “We do not know the nominal amount. Here, we only assess the feasibility from Kesbangpol. The Regent will decide later. Usually, for grants from vertical institutions, the Regent processes it directly,” Yoga explained.
