Leading with Experience, Strengthening through Collaboration, Moving with Optimism
Amidst the dynamics of the evolving hospitality industry and the challenges of global uncertainty, a new leadership approach is emerging at ibis Bandung Trans Studio. Hilmansymah, the General Manager, brings a foundation of strong operational experience and a vision for collaborative growth to lead the hotel towards service excellence.
Hilmansyah’s journey in hospitality began at the foundational operational level, starting his international career as a bartender with Costa Cruise Lines in Italy. This experience instilled in him the discipline, precision, and world-class service standards essential to the industry. His career has since spanned various Indonesian destinations, including Lampung, Pontianak, Cilegon, Jakarta, Bogor, Bali, and Papua. This extensive background has shaped a leadership style that recognises that the core of hospitality lies not just in facilities, but in the guest experience created through meticulous service.
With a strong background in Food & Beverage and comprehensive operational understanding, Hilmansyah believes that maximum service is achieved through rigorous control across all lines. “Hospitality has never been only about rooms or buildings; it has always been about people, service, and meaningful experiences. I began my journey from the most basic operations, learning firsthand how small details can create significant experiences for guests,” Hilmansyah stated.
Currently leading the largest ibis in Indonesia, ibis Bandung Trans Studio, which features 532 rooms, he is working to embed quality service into the hotel’s culture. Beyond operations, his leadership era emphasises collaboration as a primary strategy. He views the hotel not as a standalone entity, but as part of a larger ecosystem that must strengthen one another. This involves strategic synergy with various elements within the Trans Studio Bandung Integrated Area, including Trans Studio Mall, the Trans Studio Bandung indoor theme park, and the iconic Masjid Agung Trans Studio.
Furthermore, Hilmansyah is integrating Bandung’s creative community into his collaborative vision. He envisions the hotel as more than just a place for guests to stay, but as a living space that fosters energy, creativity, and connection with the local community. Through this approach, ibis Bandung Trans Studio aims to offer a more complete, relevant, and valuable destination experience.
“At ibis Bandung Trans Studio, I want to build more than just a hotel business. I want to build collaboration. Together with the entire regional ecosystem and the creative communities in Bandung, we can create a collective strength that provides greater benefits to our guests. When we grow together, we become stronger in facing all challenges,” he explained.
This spirit of collaboration is vital in responding to the increasingly dynamic changes in the industry. Despite global economic challenges and shifting tourist behaviours, Hilmansyah remains optimistic. He believes Bandung possesses immense potential through its tourism, creativity, and culture, and that the hospitality industry will continue to thrive as long as practitioners can adapt, maintain quality, and continue to innovate.
