LDNU-Unisma to Train 200 Moderate, Digitally Adaptable Gen Z Preachers

The Da’wah Institute of the East Java Regional Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (LDNU PWNU Jatim), in collaboration with the Islamic University of Malang (Unisma), is holding a 2026 Gen Z Preacher Training programme to produce 200 moderate and adaptive young preachers for the digital era. The training, themed ‘Producing Inspirational, Moderate, and Adaptive Young Preachers in the Digital Era’, was attended by 200 participants comprising Unisma students and pupils from Ma’arif senior high schools across Malang Raya, Pasuruan Regency and City, and Blitar Regency and City.

Syukron Djazilan, Chairman of LDNU PWNU East Java, stated that da’wah in the digital age requires young cadres with strong character who are also capable of utilising technology positively. He explained that the training integrates Islamic studies, public communication skills, and digital media as instruments for da’wah. Amidst rapid technological advancement, he noted, the challenges of da’wah are increasingly complex, demanding young preachers who not only possess deep religious knowledge but can also convey Islamic messages wisely, creatively, and relevantly to the digital generation’s character.

The programme is designed not only with lecture-based material delivery but also includes workshops, mentoring, practical sessions on composing da’wah content, and ongoing coaching for participants. Unisma Rector Prof Junaidi expressed full support for the activity, describing it as part of the university’s implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education and its role in strengthening the campus’s contribution to producing a generation with academic, spiritual, and leadership excellence. He expressed hope that the synergy between the university and religious organisations would give birth to young preachers who are not only proficient in da’wah but also capable of becoming agents of religious moderation, drivers of social change, and inspirations for society in the digital era. In addition to receiving material from competent speakers, participants also obtained certificates, training modules, the opportunity to join ongoing young preacher coaching, and information on various Unisma scholarship programmes for senior high school level participants.
