The Indonesian Students’ Association (PPI) in China is an official student organisation under the auspices of the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Beijing, aimed at bringing together and providing a platform for Indonesian students pursuing education in China. Each year, the PPI China (PPIT) organises a Leadership Training Programme (LDK) divided into three geographical regions: the Northern Region, Southern Region, and Eastern Region, each with distinct themes and speakers.

The PPIT Northern Region comprises nine branches geographically located in northern China: PERMIT Beijing, PPIT Changchun, PPIT Harbin, PPIT Shandong, PPIT Shenyang, PPIT Shijiazhuang, PPIT Tianjin, PPIT Xi’an, and PPIT Zhengzhou.

The 2026 LDK PPIT Northern Region was held on 6-8 March 2026 in Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province, under the theme SATSET: Self-Awareness, Concrete Action, Responsibility, Team Synergy, Efficiency & Effectiveness, and Directed Purpose. This theme was selected because its values reflect the leadership character the organisers sought to instil. The theme emphasises the importance of participants understanding themselves and their roles, taking courageous concrete action, and shouldering responsibility well. Additionally, solid teamwork, efficient and effective work methods, and focus on clear objectives form the foundation the programme aimed to establish.

The event commenced on Friday, 6 March 2026, with participants arriving from various cities across northern China. Enthusiasm was evident from the first day. On the opening evening, organisers and participants visited Lao Jun Ying, one of Taiyuan’s culinary districts, as a bonding moment and opportunity for participants to become acquainted before the main activities began.

The main programme took place on Saturday, 7 March 2026. The event opened with remarks from the Master of Ceremony, followed by the Indonesian national anthem and the PPIT march. Opening remarks were delivered by Chief Organiser Abigail Audrey Parahita, followed by Felix Liman as Chairman of PPIT Northern Region, Gregorius Justin Chung as General Chairman of PPIT, and Nur Evi Rahmawati representing the Indonesian Embassy.

Following the remarks, activities continued with a maze marker game designed to foster collaborative spirit and mutual cooperation among participants. The first substantive session was delivered by Gregorius Justin Chung, who outlined the functions, objectives, and history of PPIT, whilst emphasising the organisation’s importance as a platform for Indonesian students in China.

Unlike previous years, this year’s LDK also featured a plenary session simulation. In this activity, participants had the opportunity to take roles as members of the Presidium Council and lead the proceedings. This simulation served as relevant leadership training, particularly as an actual plenary session will be held during the PPIT Symposium and Congress on 9-12 July 2026 in Xi’an City.

The programme continued with a session featuring speaker Salsa Senja, who shared her life journey from a national-level athlete to currently pursuing doctoral studies at Tsinghua University. She is also active as a lecturer at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, President of Sino Scholar, and Founder of Linsan Mandarin. In this session, Salsa shared experiences and insights on leadership, perseverance, and the importance of being a role model to others. After the substantive session concluded, participants and organisers took photographs together before visiting Zhonglou Street to enjoy local cuisine from Shanxi Province.

On the third day, the programme opened with a session featuring speaker Sian Gwan Soh, Founder of Yongchun Chinese Language Center. He discussed courage in leadership, public speaking abilities, and strategies for leading organisations and companies. Participants were subsequently divided into groups to design concepts for organisations or companies, complete with vision, mission, objectives, and governance structures.

As the event’s highlight, awards were presented to outstanding participants in the categories of Most Creative, Most Active, and Most Strategic. The event closed with remarks from Kezia Margaretta, Chairman of PPIT Shijiazhuang Branch, who expressed appreciation to all participants, speakers, sponsors, and organisers who contributed to the programme’s success.

The 2026 LDK PPIT Northern Region served not only as a leadership training activity, but also as a space for character development among Indonesian students in China. Through this programme, participants are expected to become leaders who are more responsive, focused, and responsible in fulfilling their roles in the future.
