Palembang – The Indonesian Islamic Propagation Institute (LDII) in South Sumatra Province is implementing a programme to clean 326 houses of worship during the holy month of Ramadan 2026.

The Chair of LDII South Sumatra’s Regional Leadership Council (DPW), Rahmatullah, stated in Palembang on Saturday that during this year’s holy month of Ramadan, the organisation is executing a programme to clean mosques and other houses of worship located in the vicinity of mosques.

“This programme targets not only mosques and prayer rooms under LDII’s auspices, but also other houses of worship,” he said.

According to him, this cleanliness initiative involves thousands of volunteers from youth and grassroots organisational levels as a concrete expression of service to the community. “We want to demonstrate that LDII’s presence must provide direct benefit to the surrounding environment. With clean and sacred places of worship, the community can certainly carry out their spiritual activities with greater devotion and comfort,” he said.

Additionally, the organisation is also distributing free iftar meals to the public simultaneously across South Sumatra, totalling 15,000 portions. “For Palembang City, we are concentrating distribution in the Monpera area, providing 1,500 portions,” he said.

LDII South Sumatra is committed to making this agenda a routine annual programme on a larger scale. Through consistency in taking concrete action, the organisation hopes to continue contributing positively to the development of human resources that are both religiously grounded and possess high social awareness.
