LDII: Qurban Strengthens Social Solidarity
Qurban is seen as vital for strengthening social solidarity amid economic pressures affecting parts of society. Beyond its role in Eid al-Adha worship, the distribution of sacrificial meat helps sustain communal spirit and mutual care among communities.
This was stated during the 1447 AH Qurban Distribution Programme, held simultaneously across five administrative regions of Jakarta by the Jakarta Provincial Chapter of the Indonesian Islamic Dakwah Council (LDII) on Wednesday, 27 May 2026.
LDII Jakarta Provincial Chapter Deputy Chair Muhammad Ied said the Qurban initiative is an opportunity to reinforce social compassion within communities.
“Through the Qurban Distribution Programme in Jakarta, we aim to foster mutual care, especially within local neighbourhoods,” Ied stated on Wednesday, 27 May 2026.
He added that this year’s Qurban activities demonstrate continued community generosity despite the economy not yet fully recovered.
“Alhamdulillah, despite economic challenges, the Qurban Distribution Programme has been successfully carried out. We hope its benefits reach the community, particularly in surrounding areas,” Ied said.
Jakarta’s Head of the Food Security, Marine, and Agriculture Department (KPKP), Hasudungan A Sidabalok, said the distribution of Qurban meat aids in the equitable distribution of animal protein consumption among the public.
“This significantly contributes to equitable animal protein consumption and enhances food security in Jakarta’s communities,” Sidabalok said.
He added that slaughter procedures are monitored to ensure the distributed meat is safe for public consumption.
“We hope the Qurban meat provided to the public is truly safe, healthy, intact, and halal,” he said.
