Lazy legislators ticked off
BOJONEGORO, East Java: Local legislators ticked off four
leaders of the Bojonegoro regency assembly in East Java on
Tuesday for frequently being absent from the assembly chamber and
skipping crucial meetings.
The reprimanded leaders were assembly speaker Anwar Sholeh and
his deputies Maksum Amin, Thalhah and Iksan Tamim.
The critics, grouped in the Islamic Plus faction (FIP),
submitted a written protest during a plenary session of the
assembly.
They accused the assembly leaders of lacking discipline in
carrying out their official duties, and urged them to pull up
their socks.
"They should be setting a good example for their subordinates,
not the reverse," said Sudarto, a legislator from the FIP.
