LAZNAS YAKESMA together with the international philanthropic organisation from Türkiye, Türkiye Diyanet Vakf (TDV), organised a programme distributing 1,000 iftar packages and 500 Ramadhan gift packs for communities in Kalisari, Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta, on Tuesday, 3 March.

The event, centred at Markaz Qur’an Kalisari, formed part of strengthening humanitarian solidarity and symbolising the brotherly relations between Indonesia and Türkiye through the Ramadhan occasion.

The activities began after the Asr prayer and continued until the time of breaking the fast. The sequence opened with communal tadarus Al-Qur’an, attended by all invited guests, santri (students of Islamic religious schools), and local residents. The atmosphere was solemn, reflecting Ramadhan’s spiritual values.

Attending the event were Abdulhamit EMEL, Head of Türkiye’s Office of Religious Affairs in Indonesia, representing Türkiye’s Ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia; Gökhan DNÇEL, Official TDV representative; the LAZNAS YAKESMA Board of Directors; Markaz Qur’an administrators; Camat Pasar Rebo; local police; and the santri and beneficiaries.

In his remarks, the TDV representative emphasised the institution’s commitment to expanding humanitarian collaboration in Indonesia as part of Türkiye’s global social service mission.

The programme continued with checking of aid packages and a symbolic handover of the assistance by the Turkish Embassy representative together with the TDV representative to the beneficiaries. This moment represented tangible cross-country synergy supporting those in need.

The next speaker was the Markaz Qur’an administrator, hosting the event. Dr. Romdlon Hidayat, CEO of LAZNAS YAKESMA, said the collaboration is part of humanitarian diplomacy that strengthens the ukhuwah Islamiyah between the two nations.

‘This collaboration is not merely about sharing iftar packages and Ramadhan gift boxes; it also strengthens the Indonesia–Türkiye brotherhood. May this synergy continue to grow and yield broader benefits for the umat,’ he said.

The Camat of Pasar Rebo also expressed appreciation for the two organisations’ care for the welfare of people in the area.

As Ramadhan break-fast time approached, the programme included Islamic lectures highlighting Ramadan’s meaning as a month to strengthen empathy and social solidarity.

The event concluded with a collective prayer and a shared breaking of the fast in a warm, communal atmosphere.

As a National Zakat Institution, Laznas Yakesma upholds the principles of transparency and accountability in managing zakat, infak, and sadaqah funds.

This collaboration with TDV is expected to serve as a model of strategic partnership between national and international philanthropic organisations in delivering sustainable benefits to communities in Indonesia.

Going forward, the two organisations are committed to continuing to strengthen cooperation on humanitarian programmes to broaden the reach of benefits in Indonesia. (H-2)
