LAZISNU East Java Sets Up Community Kitchens in Aceh Tamiang During Ramadan
Surabaya (ANTARA) - NU Care-LAZISNU East Java has set up four community kitchen sites to assist with sahur and iftar needs of disaster survivors in Aceh Tamiang Regency, Aceh Province, during Ramadan 1447 Hijriah.
LAZISNU East Java Community Kitchen Team member Ahmad Syaiful said the kitchens are spread across Kota Lintang Bawah Village, Banai Village, Menanggini Village, and one location in the East Aceh area.
“The community kitchens are spread across four sites to ensure residents’ sahur and iftar needs are met during the recovery period,” Ahmad said when contacted from Surabaya on Monday.
He explained that logistics distribution is focused on supporting the community kitchen operations during the first few days of Ramadan.
“The logistics we have sent are projected to cover needs for up to four days ahead, specifically for sahur and iftar with residents,” he said.
Meanwhile, NU Care-LAZISNU East Java Programme Manager M. Risal Syarifuddin said the aid distributed is currently focused on supporting operations at the four kitchen locations.
The assistance includes 60 boxes of instant noodles divided equally among the four sites, 25-kilogramme and five-kilogramme packs of rice, cooking oil, seasoning, and salt.
In addition to basic provisions, LAZISNU East Java also supplied kitchen equipment including two-burner stoves, a single-burner high-pressure stove, a blender, and one rice cooker.
However, several needs remain unmet, particularly for the community kitchen in the East Aceh area, including additional two-burner stoves, a blender, cooking oil, seasoning, and salt.
“These shortfalls will be addressed promptly through follow-up budgeting that has been previously discussed,” Risal said.
Beyond community kitchen support, LAZISNU East Java is also preparing a programme to distribute packages of decent used clothing and Ramadan supplies for the community ahead of Eid al-Fitr, as part of efforts to bring joy amid hardship.
Aceh Tamiang Regency remains in the recovery phase following flash floods that struck at the end of November 2025.
