Lawyer Says Febrie Adriansyah Accepts Rejection of Pretrial Motion

Febri Diansyah, lawyer for former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) at the Attorney General’s Office, Febrie Adriansyah, said his client accepts and respects the decision of the single judge at the South Jakarta District Court, which rejected the pretrial motion regarding searches and seizures. “He has accepted whatever the decision is and respects yesterday’s pretrial ruling because he is a law enforcer, so if there is a legal product, the decision is respected,” said Febri after visiting his client at the KPK’s Red and White Building State Detention Centre in Jakarta on Friday (28/8).

Nevertheless, Febri stated that his team had re-read the pretrial ruling. He found biases in the understanding of the trial facts. “In principle, from the response conveyed by Mr FA [Febrie Adriansyah] and the discussions we held, Mr FA respects the court’s decision. Although after we re-read it, we made a transcript, and the pretrial ruling that was read out totalled around 50 pages from the quick transcript alone,” said Febri.

“After we re-read it, there are indeed a number of notes, and in our view there are biases in the understanding of the trial facts, but because it has been decided, we respect the pretrial ruling,” he continued.

Previously, the single judge at the South Jakarta District Court, Richard Edwin Basoeki, stated that all legal processes carried out against Febrie Adriansyah were lawful. The judge also rejected all pretrial claims put forward by Febrie. In his considerations, the judge said the series of processes of inquiry, investigation, search, seizure, naming of suspect, and prevention from travelling abroad had been in accordance with procedure. “Adjudicating, in the main case, rejecting the Petitioner’s pretrial motion in its entirety,” said the judge when reading the verdict at the South Jakarta District Court on Thursday (27/8).
