Lawyer opens legal aid institute

JAKARTA: A lawyer whose wife fell victim to alleged medical has established a legal aid institute for victims of malpractice.

The institute offers free legal advocacy to poor people who believe they have been victims of malpractice, the lawyer, Hotman Paris Hutapea said in a press statement on Wednesday.

He said the institute was established as the newly endorsed bill on medical practice did not deal adequately with malpractice and punishment for medical workers who committed malpractice.

The legal aid institute has hotline numbers at 0816-137-9646, 0816-130-8633, 0816-840-980. -- JP
