Lawyer, minister in law firm row
JAKARTA: A lawyer filed a legal notification with the South Jakarta District Court over a dispute with the now-liquidated Yusril Ihza Mahendra and Partners law firm.
Lawyer TM Luthfi Yazid, the law firm cofounder, appealed to the court to order Yusron Ihza, the liquidator, to present his reports on the law firm's liquidation on March 26.
Lawyer M. Luthfi Hakim told reporters that his client was given only Rp 45 million after the liquidation, which he considered "insufficient".
"My client supposedly received the same amount of money because he in his capacity as cofounder had the same shares in the company," he said.
Yusron is the brother of Yusril Ihza Mahendra, the justice and human rights minister. Yusril, Yusron, Yazid and lawyer Hidayat Achyar established the law firm in 2001. Yusril formed another law firm, namely Ihza and Ihza Law Office, after his first law firm was liquidated.
Early this year, a lawyer claimed that a court ruled in favor in the case handled by Yusril's law firm due to Yusril's involvement in the trial. Yusril has denied any wrongdoing. -- JP
