Lawyer for Adam Deni Hopes for Restorative Justice in Airsoft Gun Case
Influencer Adam Deni Gearaka (30) has been arrested by police after damaging a shop and threatening an employee with an airsoft gun in the Cilincing area of North Jakarta. His lawyer, Herwanto, stated that the arrest warrant for his client has been received. “It is not because of damaging the shop or threatening the employee. I have just been given the arrest warrant. So, he is considered to have stored, possessed, and carried it. This means the airsoft gun is actually not a firearm. However, the article applied is for firearms,” Herwanto said when contacted on Sunday (21/6/2026).
Herwanto explained that Adam Deni’s possession of the airsoft gun was equated with a firearm because it was used outside a designated shooting practice area. He indicated that his team will request restorative justice to resolve the matter. “It’s just that this airsoft gun can be equated with a firearm when it is outside the shooting sports arena. I think this is not too serious and can be resolved. So, if there is information about restorative justice, I hope tomorrow it can be granted,” he added.
“Yes, yes. I think if this was a personal grudge, maybe it was a momentary emotion. Moreover, the weapon carried was not a dangerous weapon, nor was it an explosive,” he continued. Herwanto admitted he does not yet know the exact chronology of the incident according to Adam Deni or his relationship with the victim. His last communication with his client was via text message on Friday (19/6), after which he could no longer be reached.
“So, maybe he was examined that night, then by the next morning he had been arrested, declared arrested, because on Saturday morning he could no longer be contacted,” he said. However, Adam Deni had previously contacted Herwanto and mentioned he was having a problem with someone. Herwanto recounted that Adam Deni claimed his actions were just juvenile mischief. “But Adam Deni hadn’t told me the details yet. Then suddenly he sent a voice note. ‘I have a problem,’ he said. ‘It’s just the usual juvenile mischief,’ he said,” Herwanto explained.
Previously, the influencer Adam Deni was arrested by police after damaging a shop and threatening an employee with an airsoft gun in the Cilincing area, North Jakarta. Police have now elevated Adam Deni’s status to a suspect and detained him. “The legal status of ADG has been elevated to a suspect and he is now officially detained. During the examination process, the suspect admitted to all his actions and submitted a request for restorative justice,” said Polda Metro Jaya Head of Public Relations, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, in a statement on Sunday (21/6/2026).
Budi further stated that the police are firm with Adam Deni because he committed a criminal act. The reason is that he made threats and damaged a shop. “However, we emphasise that although the motive was triggered by a personal dispute, the method of resolving the problem by using weapon intimidation and damaging public property is an unlawful act that must be processed professionally,” he added. Budi explained that Adam Deni was arrested after police received a complaint from a resident who was a victim of business facility damage. Police then moved to the location and arrested the suspect.
“The handling of this case is based on an official report from the victim as the business owner to the North Jakarta Metro Police. Based on the crime scene investigation and document examination, the incident began on Wednesday evening (17/6), around 8.30 PM WIB at the Yummy Coin shop, Jalan Terusan Kelapa Hybrida, Sukapura, Cilincing, North Jakarta,” Budi said.
