Lawyer Firdaus Oiwobo Reports Former UGM Student Leader Tiyo Ardianto to Police Over Criticism of Free Meal Programme
The lawyer Firdaus Oiwobo has once again drawn public attention after reporting former UGM Student Executive Body (BEM) President Tiyo Ardianto to the South Tangerang Metro Police. The report was filed on Monday, 15 June 2026, and has been accepted by the authorities. South Tangerang Metro Police Public Relations Head, Second Inspector Yudhi Susanto, confirmed that the report is currently being handled by investigators. “It is true that the police have received a report in the name of Firdaus Oiwobo. It is currently under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Tangerang Police,” Yudhi said on Wednesday, 17 June 2026.
Firdaus Oiwobo assessed that Tiyo Ardianto had crossed the line, veering into insults against the head of state and a government programme. “I am reporting the former BEM President of UGM because he insulted the Head of State, Mr Prabowo Subianto, insulted Mas Gibran, and slandered the SPPG and MBG,” he stated. According to Firdaus Oiwobo, the report was made on suspicion of violating Article 263 of the Criminal Code under Law Number 1 of 2023 and/or Articles 433 and 434 of the Criminal Code. He also accused Tiyo Ardianto of incitement against the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme, which is currently one of the government’s flagship initiatives. “He also repeatedly insulted and slandered Mr Prabowo’s programme. That is why today I am going after him,” he said.
Not stopping there, Firdaus Oiwobo signalled that further legal reports would follow against a number of other parties deemed to have committed similar acts. He stressed he would not hesitate to pursue legal channels if he found alleged insults against state officials or government programmes. “I will report the others later. I am not playing around. I am indeed a serial reporter. A serial legal notice sender, a serial reporter. Alhamdulillah, many have already been imprisoned. Today, many people have also been processed at district and regional police headquarters based on my reports,” he asserted.
Firdaus Oiwobo also directed a message straight at Tiyo Ardianto. In his view, criticism of the government is normal in a democracy, but it must not devolve into personal attacks on state officials. “Tiyo, you are a newcomer, just recently became an activist. Being critical is fine, but do not insult. Do not attack Mr Prabowo personally. Do not insult Mas Gibran. If you insult them, I will go after you. You know me, right? I will go after you,” said Firdaus Oiwobo.
