The legal counsel for former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah, Febri Diansyah, has stated that his client never received Rp40 billion from businessman Tan Kian.

Febri made the statement following his client’s pretrial hearing at the South Jakarta District Court on 27 August 2026.

“So, we emphasise, and we have re-read the transcript of the ruling, it is not true that the pretrial judge concluded that Mr FA received Rp40 billion from Tan Kian,” said Febri at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta on Friday.

According to him, what is correct is that the pretrial judge said there was evidence in the form of an examination report (BAP) or excerpts of testimony from Tan Kian regarding the giving of money to someone named Ferry.

“In essence, Tan Kian said he gave money equivalent to Rp40 billion to someone named Ferry. That is what the evidence states, that Tan Kian gave money to someone named Ferry,” he said.

Furthermore, he said the evidence does not mention at all that Tan Kian gave money to his client.

“It is not mentioned at all there that Tan Kian gave money to FA. So, we need to clarify that. It is not mentioned at all there that Tan Kian gave money to FA,” he said.

He went on to say that the pretrial judge could not conclude whether Febrie Adriansyah received money or not.

“So, that is only an admission from one side. Tan Kian gave money to someone named Ferry. That certainly needs to be clarified because the narrative or issue that has developed is as if the money was given to FA,” he said.

Febrie Adriansyah was previously named a suspect by the Indonesian National Police.

The case involving the former Jampidsus was subsequently handled by the Attorney General’s Office.

Meanwhile, since being named a suspect, the former Jampidsus has been detained at the Merah Putih Building branch of the Corruption Eradication Commission’s State Detention Centre in Jakarta.
