The lawyer for former head of the Marunda Customs Supervision and Service Office (KPPBC), Ahmad Dedi alias Dedi Congor, has denied that his client was ever part of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN). The denial was made to counter information provided by Blueray Cargo (Group) executive John Field, who is currently a defendant in a suspected bribery case related to importation at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise. “No, never. Apart from Customs, he [Ahmad Dedi] has never been anywhere else,” lawyer Hamonangan Daulay said via written message on Friday (12/6).

Hamonangan questioned the basis for claiming his client worked at BIN, given that he is a civil servant (ASN) at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise. “Where is the basis for him being at BIN? He has been with Customs from the start,” he said. He also denied that Dedi Congor was a special staff member to the Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs. “That’s not true, not true. Mr Dedi has never moved from Customs,” Hamonangan stated, adding that Dedi has not held a position there for a long time.

Previously, during a court hearing, defendant John Field admitted to disbursing Rp91 billion to several officials at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise under the Ministry of Finance. Of that amount, Rp30 billion was given to Dedi Congor. During the session, Field claimed Dedi Congor worked for BIN. Field stated that he provided Rp5 billion monthly to Dedi, whom he knew as a treasurer for PPIR (Purnawirawan Pejuang Indonesia Raya) at BIN, not as a Customs official. He mentioned meeting Dedi’s staff member, Alex, after being introduced by someone named Tuti, referring to PPJK entrepreneur Sri Pangestuti.

Dedi Congor was previously questioned as a witness by Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigators on Friday, 8 May 2026. News about him went viral on social media after he fled from journalists attempting to interview him. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that investigators suspect a flow of funds related to the Customs case was received by Dedi Congor.

John Field is charged with bribing several officials at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise with Rp61 billion and providing entertainment facilities and luxury goods worth Rp1.8 billion. The bribery was allegedly carried out together with co-defendants Dedy Kurniawan Sukolo, Operational Manager of Custom Clearance at Blueray Cargo (Group), and Andri, Head of the Importation Document Team at Blueray Cargo (Group). The recipients of the bribes include the Director of Enforcement and Investigation, Rizal; the Sub-Director of Intelligence, Sisprian Subiaksono; and the Head of Customs Intelligence Section I, Orlando Hamonangan. The prosecution noted that Rizal received at least Rp14 billion, Sisprian Rp7 billion, and Orlando around Rp4.05 billion, with remaining funds distributed to other parties not yet processed legally.
