The lawyer for customs and excise civil servant Ahmad Dedi, also known as Dedi Congor, has denied that his client received IDR 30 billion from Blueray boss John Field. The attorney described the statement as a unilateral claim.

In response to questions regarding defendant John Field’s statement during a trial at the Central Jakarta Corruption Court, which mentioned a payment of IDR 30 billion to Ahmad Dedi, lawyer Hamonangan Daulay stated on Friday (12/6/2026) that the claim was a one-sided statement made in court and its legal validity must still be proven based on lawful evidence.

Hamonangan said his side rejects all forms of premature judgement and the formation of public opinion that assumes the accusation has already been proven. He stated that every person is entitled to the protection of the presumption of innocence until a court decision has permanent legal force.

“We respect the ongoing trial process and give the panel of judges the opportunity to objectively assess all facts, statements from the parties, and evidence presented in court,” Hamonangan said. “We invite all parties to exercise restraint, respect the judicial process, and not draw conclusions before this case is decided with permanent legal force.”

Hamonangan also clarified that Dedi has never held a position at the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) or served as a special staff member for the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs. He stated that Dedi is a civil servant (ASN) at the Customs and Excise office and has not held any position there for a long time, describing him as an ordinary ASN.

Previously, Blueray Cargo boss John Field admitted to giving IDR 91 billion to several officials at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise under the Ministry of Finance. Of that amount, Field claimed IDR 30 billion was given to a customs civil servant named Ahmad Dedi. The statement was made during Field’s examination as a defendant in a bribery case related to goods importation at the Central Jakarta Corruption Court on Friday (12/6/2026). In the indictment, KPK prosecutors charged Field and two other defendants with providing IDR 61 billion in bribes to customs officials. When asked by his lawyer to explain the remaining IDR 30 billion, Field said he provided IDR 5 billion each month for six months to Dedi, whom he initially thought was not a customs official. Field said the money was handed over to Dedi through a staff member named Alex. KPK had previously questioned Ahmad Dedi on Friday (8/6), after which he immediately ran out of the KPK building.
