Lawyer Deems Sentence Demand Against Terra Drone CEO Unbalanced, Highlights Building Owner
Jakarta, Kompas.com - The legal team is questioning several elements of the two-year prison demand against the CEO of PT Terra Drone Indonesia, Michael Wishnu Wardana, in the fire case that killed 22 employees.
Michael Wishnu’s legal representative, Triana Seroja Dewi, believes that the elements of the demand presented by the public prosecutor (JPU) are mostly imposed on her client.
However, according to her, responsibility for the fire is also related to the owner of the Terra Drone building.
“Mr Mike (Michael Wishnu) is actually a bit disappointed. Yes, with the demand (two years),” said Triana at the Central Jakarta District Court, Kemayoran, on Monday (11/5/2026).
Triana stated that there should be proportional responsibility between Michael Wishnu as the tenant of the Terra Drone building and the owner of that building.
In this regard, the legal team refers to Law No. 28 of 2002 on Building Structures.
Triana also mentioned that Michael Wishnu hopes to be sentenced to the lightest criminal penalty or even acquitted.
“Yes (his hope) is acquittal or the lightest possible,” said Triana.
The JPU demanded Michael Wishnu Wardana with a two-year prison sentence.
In the demand, the JPU revealed aggravating factors in Michael Wishnu’s position in the PT Terra Drone fire case.
His actions were deemed negligent in maintaining employee safety, resulting in the deaths of 22 PT Terra Drone Indonesia employees.
Meanwhile, the mitigating circumstance is that Michael, as the defendant, has been cooperative throughout the trial process.
Furthermore, Triana Seroja Dewi stated that they object to the two-year prison demand against Michael Wishnu.
