Lawyer Claims Police Have Identified Suspect in Murder of Female Student in Mataram Boarding House
Police are reported to have obtained the name of a prospective suspect in the murder of University of Mataram student Nadya Dwi Ramadhany (21). Nadya was previously killed at her boarding house in Gamong subdistrict, Selaparang district, Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
The news that police have the name of a suspect in Nadya’s murder was conveyed by the family’s lawyer, Lalu Anton Hariawan. He delivered the update after visiting the Mataram Police Headquarters alongside Nadya’s mother, Eny Widyawati.
“From the results of our discussions, we can see that they already have the name of the prospective suspect. However, there are some things we have agreed not to disclose because they are investigation secrets,” Anton said.
Nevertheless, Anton declined to reveal how many prospective suspects there were in Nadya’s murder. He only said that police had requested more time before formally naming a suspect.
“They asked us for time so that, once the investigation is complete, a case review can be carried out. The investigation is nearly finished; only a few witness examinations remain to be deepened,” Anton explained.
According to Anton, the process of solving Nadya’s murder case has indeed taken considerable time. He said the case has taken so long because the police have been cautious in their handling.
“The death of NDR is not like other murder cases. There were no witnesses, but the police already hold all the pieces of evidence. Investigators have secured all the evidence,” Anton explained.
Nadya’s mother, Eny Widyawati, expressed hope that the perpetrator would soon be arrested. “The family’s hope is that this case will be resolved quickly and that the perpetrator will be found and punished as severely as possible,” said Eny, holding a photograph of Nadya.
The head of the Criminal Investigation Unit at Mataram Police Headquarters, AKP I Made Dharma Yulia Putra, declined to comment at length on the news conveyed by Anton. “It is still in process,” he replied briefly.
As is known, Nadya was previously found dead in her boarding house room in Gomong subdistrict, Selaparang district, Mataram, NTB, on 17 May 2026. The body of the primary school teacher education (PGSD) student at Unram was first discovered by a friend who came looking for her at the boarding house.
Nadya was found lying on her back and had begun to emit a foul odour. At the time, her room was locked from the inside, while her mobile phone and motorcycle were missing.
