Ono Surono’s lawyer, Sahali, has rebutted statements from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) regarding the search conducted by investigators at his client’s home, who is the Chairman of the PDI-P West Java Regional Representative Council.

Previously, KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that the investigators did not disable or turn off the CCTV. Instead, it was turned off by the family, and the investigators merely checked the CCTV. After checking the CCTV, the investigators did not seize it.

Sahali then described Budi’s statement as illogical because the family had no interest in turning it off.

“The explanation is not logical. The question is, what interest does the family have in turning off the CCTV? It would be better for the CCTV to remain on in such a situation,” said Ono through a written statement on Thursday (2/4).

“It was the investigators who insisted on having the CCTV turned off,” Sahali added.

Sahali also suspected that the investigators intimidated Ono’s wife. Not only that, Sahali mentioned there was pushing and shoving between the legal advisors and Ono’s wife.

“After the CCTV was turned off, the investigators are then suspected of intimidating Kang Ono Surono’s wife, and there was pushing and shoving with the legal advisors who tried to protect Ono Surono’s wife,” he said.

Sahali said the pushing and shoving was triggered because the investigators insisted on seizing the arisan participants’ money from Ono’s wife.

“The investigators stubbornly seized Rp50 million belonging to the family and Rp200 million belonging to many arisan participants from Ono Surono’s wife. Even though WhatsApp Group arisan evidence was shown to the investigators, proving the arisan money belongs to many people, it was ignored by the investigators,” he said.

“This search, for us, is merely an attempt by certain investigators to frame Kang Ono Surono, forcing them to seize items that have no connection whatsoever,” he continued.

Previously, Sahali questioned the steps taken by the KPK, particularly from a legal basis perspective.

“Regarding this search process, we noted irregularities because the investigators requested that the CCTV at Kang Ono’s house be turned off during the search. This makes us wonder why it had to go as far as turning off the CCTV? What is the legal basis?” said Sahali in a written statement on Wednesday (1/4).

In addition, Sahali provided another note on the search process because the investigators did not bring a search permit. However, this provision is clearly regulated in Article 114 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

It is known that in this search, the investigators secured and seized a number of documents, electronic evidence items, and cash worth hundreds of millions of rupiah.

Today, Thursday (2/4), KPK investigators will continue the search activities at Ono’s house located in Indramayu.
