Lawrence Wong to Visit Jakarta for Indonesia-Singapore Leaders' Retreat

Singapore Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong will undertake a working visit to Jakarta, Indonesia, on Monday, 6 July 2026. According to an official statement from the Prime Minister’s Office of Singapore, Lawrence Wong will attend the Annual Singapore-Indonesia Leaders’ Retreat hosted by President Prabowo Subianto. This meeting marks the second Leaders’ Retreat for both leaders. The Leaders’ Retreat affirms the close and longstanding bilateral relationship between Singapore and Indonesia, as well as the commitment of both governments to deepen bilateral cooperation. During the meeting, the two leaders will discuss various opportunities to strengthen collaboration in areas of mutual interest and benefit for both Singapore and Indonesia. They will also receive updates on the progress of various bilateral projects initiated since the last Leaders’ Retreat, which took place in Singapore in June 2025. Additionally, the two leaders will exchange views on regional developments and global issues. During the visit, Wong will be accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong, Coordinating Minister for Public Service and Minister for Defence Chan Chun Sing, Minister for Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Social and Family Development Masagos Zulkifli, and Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Energy, Science and Technology Tan See Leng. While Wong is in Indonesia, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs K. Shanmugam will serve as Acting Prime Minister.
