A member of Commission VI of the House of Representatives (DPR), Kawendra Lukistian, has urged the Ministry of Cooperatives to intensify its supervision of the Merah Putih Village Cooperatives (KDMP). He also pushed for the maximum involvement of local human resources.

Speaking during a working meeting with Minister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono, chaired by Deputy Chairman of Commission VI Andre Rosiade at the DPR complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday, Kawendra stated that the ministry must increase its penetration in oversight once the physical construction by Agrinas Pangan is complete.

During the meeting, Andre Rosiade expressed full support for the KDMP as a priority programme of the President, which is expected to bring prosperity to the people.

Kawendra explained that the ministry must supervise the KDMP more closely to ensure that no aspects of President Prabowo Subianto’s priority programme go unmonitored. He expressed concern that a programme intended for the wider public could have many shortcomings without proper monitoring and evaluation.

He hopes the Ministry of Cooperatives will implement an early warning system for issues related to the village cooperatives. This would ensure that key performance indicators are tracked through a monitored dashboard, not just in terms of budget allocation, but also with records that allow the ministry to carry out direct mitigation.

Furthermore, Kawendra addressed the involvement of local human resources in the KDMP, expressing hope that this engagement would create jobs for the community. He stated that the presence of KDMP in villages and sub-districts is intended to generate employment by involving the best local talent, so residents do not have to seek work far away. He called for them to be involved optimally and given proper appreciation, hoping that active community participation would lead to massive job creation and a significant contribution from the Ministry of Cooperatives.
