Lawmaker Supports Attorney General's Office Investigation into Military Involvement in Free Nutritious Meal Programme Case
We must support law enforcement because only through the enforcement of the law can we provide certainty to all Indonesian citizens that we are all equal before the law,” stated Syamsu Rizal Marzuki Ibrahim, a member of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), in Jakarta on Monday.
Ical, as he is commonly known, stated that the case must be handled professionally in accordance with applicable legal provisions. He also expressed confidence that the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, General Agus Subiyante, is committed to supporting the legal process against military personnel suspected of involvement.
Previously, on 2 July 2026, the Attorney General’s Office announced findings regarding the alleged involvement of active TNI personnel in the case.
The Director of Investigation for the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, stated that the military member allegedly involved is the Secretary of the Deputy for Provision and Distribution of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), who also serves as the commitment-making official for motorcycle procurement, Colonel Cpl Budi Utomo.
Consequently, the handling of the case will be conducted through a connectivity investigation alongside investigators from the Junior Attorney General for Military Crimes.
“It is not because of the nature of the act within the military, but rather due to their status as military personnel that a connectivity investigation is being conducted,” said Syarief.
In this case, the Attorney General’s Office has named seven suspects, including the former Head of the BGN, Dadan Hindayana; the former Deputy Head of BGN for Organisational Development and Institutional Relations, Lodewyk Pusung; and the former Deputy Head of BGN for Nutritional Fulfilment Operations, Sony Sonjaya.
Other suspects include Asep Yusuf Sumantri from the private sector, the Commissioner of PT Yasa Artha Trimanunggal, Andri Mulyono; the Chairman of the Indonesia Food Security Review Glory Foundation, Harimas Sihombing; and the Secretary of the Deputy for Promotion and Cooperation of the BGN, Lalu Muhammad Iwan.
