Law Students Take to the Streets, Monas to DPR Become Protest Sites
JAKARTA – Two demonstration actions involving law students were held in Central Jakarta on Monday (20/4/2026). The protests were centred in the area of the National Monument (Monas) up to the DPR/MPR building in Senayan. The Head of Public Relations for the Central Jakarta Metropolitan Police Resort, First Inspector Erlyn Sumantri, stated that both demonstrations began at 10:00 WIB. “Today’s two demonstrations both started at 10:00 WIB,” Erlyn said in a written statement on Monday. Meanwhile, the second demonstration was held by a group from the Indonesian Law Students Association in front of the DPR/MPR building in Senayan. To secure the protests, the police prepared 584 combined personnel. Officers were also ready to implement situational traffic engineering, adjusted to the conditions and the number of protesters on the ground. “Residents can seek alternative routes during the demonstration,” Erlyn said.
