The Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) has received a land grant from the Ministry of Law (Kemenkum) to be used for the construction of Sekolah Rakyat (People’s Schools). The land, measuring approximately 6.3 hectares, is located in Tangerang City. The handover of the land certificate was carried out directly by Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas to Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf, known as Gus Ipul, at Graha Pengayoman, Kemenkum, Jakarta, today.

"I think this is truly extraordinary, especially in the Tangerang area where we have been struggling to obtain land for the construction of a permanent Sekolah Rakyat building. For that, I am truly grateful for this collaboration," said Gus Ipul in a written statement on Thursday (18/6/2026).

The handover ceremony began at 09.00 WIB, preceded by performances from Sekolah Rakyat students from SRMA 10 Jakarta, SRMA 9 Jakarta, SRMA 13 Bekasi, and SRMA 33 South Tangerang. In front of Gus Ipul and Supratman, the students took turns performing martial arts displays, speeches in four languages, choir singing, and poetry. The audience appeared enthusiastic, with some even moved by the abilities demonstrated by the Sekolah Rakyat students.

Gus Ipul further explained that land for the construction of permanent Sekolah Rakyat schools is usually provided by local governments, in this case the Regent/Mayor or Governor. "Now it is also being provided by ministries, one of which is the Ministry of Law, which has been proactive from the start and continues to coordinate with the Ministry of Social Affairs," he said.

In addition to handing over the land in Tangerang, the Minister of Law also plans to provide a personal plot of land and building in Central Sulawesi Province, which can later be utilised for Sekolah Rakyat. "Secondly, he (the Law Minister) also has an idea; he has a personal asset that will later be handed over to the Ministry of Social Affairs for the operation of a Sekolah Rakyat in Central Sulawesi. I think this is a good initiative," said Gus Ipul.

On this occasion, Gus Ipul also highlighted the positive development of the students, who have undergone approximately 11 months of residential education at Sekolah Rakyat. According to him, the students are now more disciplined, confident, optimistic, and focused on their studies. "This is a boarding school where they receive education for 24 hours, accompanied by teachers during school hours, and in the afternoon during boarding time, they are accompanied by foster guardians and dormitory supervisors," he explained.

Meanwhile, Supratman Andi Agtas stated that the process of transferring the land from Kemenkum to Kemensos had been underway for some time, until the certificate could be handed over today. "Nearly 63,000 square metres, or 6.3 hectares of land at the Ministry of Law, we hand over to the Ministry of Social Affairs, and its designation will be for the construction of Sekolah Rakyat," said Supratman.

Supratman expressed hope that through this land handover, he could contribute to supporting the success of President Prabowo Subianto’s priority programmes. "We hope that with this handover, going forward, what is our shared aspiration, we as assistants to the President, will realise all of his hopes and the nation’s hopes for the future," he concluded.

Also in attendance at the event were Deputy Minister of Social Affairs Agus Jabo Priyono, Deputy Minister of Law Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej, Secretary General of Kemensos Robben Rico, Secretary General of Kemenkum Nico Afinta, senior officials from both ministries, and other relevant officials.
