Law Minister's Response as Ombudsman Chairman Becomes Corruption Suspect
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Law Minister Supratman Andi Agtas has handed over the legal process regarding the Chairman of the Indonesian Ombudsman RI, Hery Susanto, who has been designated as a suspect in an alleged nickel mining corruption case, to law enforcement authorities.
“Yes, automatically handing it over to them. It’s already with the law enforcers,” Supratman said when met in Jakarta on Friday (17/4/2026).
On the other hand, Supratman claimed he does not yet know more about the case but hopes the law enforcement process can continue.
“You can ask the investigators later because up to today I don’t know what the case is and what it’s like. I don’t know at all,” he said.
Director of Investigation at the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) of the Attorney General’s Office, Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, stated that Hery committed the alleged criminal act while serving as a Commissioner of the Indonesian Ombudsman RI for the 2021-2026 period.
“The designation of the suspect was carried out after the investigation team obtained sufficient evidence through a series of investigative actions, searches, and so on,” he said at the Jampidsus Building of the Attorney General’s Office, Jakarta, on Thursday (16/4/2026).
Subsequently, PT TSHI sought a way out by colluding with Hery Susanto as a Commissioner of the Indonesian Ombudsman RI at that time.
To carry out this, he said, Hery received a sum of money from LKM, who is the Director of PT TSHI.
