Law Minister uses social media to gather public complaints
Law Minister Supratman Andi Agtas now uses social media to directly gather public complaints regarding ministry services.
“When I check my phone usage hours, I spend more time serving the public via social media than communicating via WhatsApp,” Supratman said during a confirmation in Jakarta on Monday.
He believes public complaints and issues can be received and addressed more quickly due to technological advancements, from Level I units to regional offices.
Thus, he argues social media is not merely a communication tool but also a direct public service platform.
Supratman explained social media serves as an effective communication channel, making it easier to relay public issues to all relevant units.
“Modern communication technology greatly facilitates interaction,” he said.
Alongside emphasising responsive public services, the Law Minister urged all civil servants (ASN) to continuously improve their personal qualities and work competencies.
He stated career progression within the Ministry of Law is increasingly open to employees with integrity and good initiative.
He expressed hope that all civil servants aspire to reach top positions.
“My commitment to all Level I colleagues is that anyone with good initiative, strong integrity, and a drive to advance their career will find it much easier now, and we are handling this fairly,” the Law Minister said.
He stressed career development is conducted fairly and transparently, both functionally and structurally, encouraging all staff to compete in doing good.
Previously, Supratman mentioned President Prabowo Subianto can monitor the Ministry of Law’s performance via a digital system displayed on a small screen.
“The President can directly oversee the Ministry of Law’s performance through the small screen we provided him, and our ministry’s performance is visible,” Supratman said during the inauguration of the Village/City Legal Aid Post (Posbakum) in Yogyakarta on Tuesday, January 20.
He said the special account for President Prabowo is part of the ministry’s digital transformation.
The account handover took place during the Yogyakarta inauguration of Village/City Legal Aid Posts on January 20, ahead of the national rollout on April 1, 2026.
