Law Minister urges public to strengthen legal culture on Indonesia's 81st Independence Day
Law Minister Supratman Andi Agtas has called on the entire public to strengthen the legal culture in the momentum of the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.
He emphasised that national sovereignty must be supported by the supremacy of law, justice that is accessible to all members of society, and legal certainty that provides protection and a sense of security for citizens.
“Let us maintain unity and build governance with integrity in order to realise an Indonesia that is increasingly advanced, just, and prosperous,” Supratman said when contacted in Jakarta on Monday.
He also extended his greetings for the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, which this year carries the theme of a Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia.
According to him, the theme serves as a reminder that independence is not merely a legacy of struggle, but also a mandate that must be safeguarded and realised in the life of the nation and state.
“Long live the Republic of Indonesia. Together we realise a sovereign, just, and prosperous Indonesia. Merdeka!”, he said.
President Prabowo Subianto led the flag-lowering ceremony for the national Red and White flag in commemoration of the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia in the courtyard of the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Sunday afternoon, acting as the ceremony inspector.
The national flag-hoisting troop (Paskibraka) formed the number 81 during the lowering of the Red and White flag, marking the 81st year of Indonesia’s independence.
The Red and White flag, once lowered, was then carried by the tray bearer and handed back to President Prabowo, marking the conclusion of the core sequence of the flag-lowering ceremony.
The President then took his seat on the ceremonial dais to listen to a performance of the song “Bagimu Negeri” by Vina Panduwinata, Rizky Febian, and Niki Becker.
Following the song performance, the flag-lowering ceremony was declared complete and President Prabowo left the ceremonial dais.
The flag-lowering ceremony was commanded by Group 17 troop commander Baruno Wicaksono, a student from SMA Taruna Nusantara Cimahi Campus in West Java, the son of Setiari Marwanto and Sumartini.
