Indonesia’s Law Minister Supratman Andi Agtas has appreciated the deregulation steps taken by Youth and Sports Minister Erick Thohir. Erick has simplified 191 Youth and Sports Ministerial Regulations (Permenpora) into just four regulations.

According to Supratman, this policy represents a major breakthrough that should serve as an example for other ministries and institutions in simplifying regulations. “The achievement by Mr. Youth Minister is a breakthrough that should be emulated by all other ministries and institutions,” he stated after attending the deregulation signing ceremony at the Law Ministry Building in Jakarta on Friday (17/4/2026).

He assessed that simplifying hundreds of regulations into four rules is no easy task. This step, he said, can only be carried out by those who understand the direction of the President’s policies and possess a strong legal thinking framework.

Supratman added that this deregulation demonstrates awareness of the need for simpler and less convoluted rules. This is important so that regulations do not become obstacles in improving achievements, particularly in the fields of youth and sports.

“The main goal is how Indonesia can achieve success in athlete development and performance, both at the national and international levels,” he explained.

Furthermore, he also highlighted the synergy between Erick Thohir and Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Taufik Hidayat. According to him, their collaboration has the potential to produce great achievements in the future.

“The synergy between them has created extraordinary history. I hope that in the future, with the four Permenpora that have been established, we will see improvements in the performance of Indonesian athletes and youth,” he said.

Supratman also linked this deregulation step to President Prabowo Subianto’s policies in other sectors, such as food security. He cited deregulation efforts in that sector, which he assessed have produced positive results.

“The President has carried out deregulation, one of which is in the field of food security, and the results are starting to show with the achievement of food self-sufficiency this year,” he stated.
