Law Minister Reveals Prabowo's Directive for Civil Servants Not to 'Play Games' with Public Services

Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas has reminded state civil apparatus (ASN) not to play games with public services, in accordance with the instructions of President Prabowo Subianto. The statement was made in response to the recent spate of arrests of civil servants linked to alleged corruption cases. “So, President Prabowo is truly extraordinary; from the beginning of his tenure, we were asked to convey his message not to play games, and it remains so to this day,” Supratman said when met in Jakarta on Friday, 5 June 2026. He added that the President’s message continues to be upheld. Nevertheless, the Law Minister stressed that all current legal cases still adhere to the principle of presumption of innocence. “Let the legal process take its course,” he said. Previously, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) revealed that Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections for the 2024–2026 period, Silmy Karim, and seven other suspects in an alleged corruption case amassed up to IDR 145.5 billion from alleged extortion practices at the Directorate General of Immigration during 2022–2026. “At minimum, the value or nominal amount is IDR 145.5 billion,” said KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta on Thursday, 4 June 2026. Setyo stated that the money from the alleged extortion was obtained by the suspects from foreign nationals, or service bureaus and sponsors handling residence permit applications for those foreign nationals. Not only the KPK, but the Attorney General’s Office also recently arrested the leadership of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) in connection with an alleged corruption case. The AGO stated that three suspects in the alleged corruption case concerning the management of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme were suspected of misappropriating incentives provided by the National Nutrition Agency to the Nutrition Service Fulfilment Units (SPPG). The three suspects are former Head of BGN Dadan Hindayana and two former Deputy Heads of BGN, Lodewyk Pusung and Sony Sonjaya. Director of Investigation at the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, at the AGO building in Jakarta on Thursday, 4 June 2026, said that the BGN provided an incentive of IDR 6 million per day to the SPPG, from which the three suspects allegedly diverted funds for personal gain.
